This piece is a hybrid between abstraction and figure or silhouette, making it a semi-abstract painting. In many cultures, the elephant represents good fortune, good luck, loyalty and patience. This elephant, however, is standing in a room, with the outline of a gloomy cityscape inside of him, having the viewer ponder upon the state of human footprint we are leaving on this world. Collectively, humanity has an obligation to make better choices for all the living beings on this planet. The soothing blue shade is calming, yet causes a sense of despair, while at the same time, the outline of bright colors instills hope for change to come, as the elephant is also a symbol of wisdom.
