Suspended Animation - Paintings Without Canvas!
On view from September 9th - October 1st, 2022
On view from September 9th - October 1st, 2022
ArtToSaveLives Contemporary is excited to present Suspended Animation exhibition by JuanCarlos rLora, which explores paintings without canvas!
The pieces from this solo exhibition are carefully adhered with paint directly onto the artist frame. JuanCarlos purposely juxtaposed the classic, almost gaudy-like frames with the contemporary abstraction, marrying the old with the new.
He first began experimenting with this canvas-free whimsical style in 2019. Just like almost all of his works and series, this series is also narrative based. Suspended Animation is a sub-series of Flor's Particles, which in turn derives from JuanCarlos' iconic Flor del Sol series - a concept of a Flower of Love (Flor).
In Particles, Flor begins her cosmic journey, this is the part where Flor’s body disintegrates and floats off into the cosmos. The pieces of her body (or particles) form galaxies that breed life, while her soul is reborn on the surface of a star, a different sun. She will remain there until the world becomes a better place for all its inhabitants, and only then will she return back to her home - Earth.

'Silhouettes' a Solo Exhibition by JuanCarlos rLora - April 9th - May 1st, 2022
Silhouettes is the beginning of JuanCarlos' practice when he was 15 years old. It was then and still is his roots, his neutral zone that brings him back to ground when his explorations take him too far into the self... ”I love exploring the female figure, as it is the ultimate form, Mother Nature herself.”

"HAPPY" by JuanCarlos rLora
July 2-25, 2021
ArtToSaveLives Contemporary is proud to present a solo show by JuanCarlos rLora entitled - “HAPPY”
This exhibition includes pieces from the Clown Series and Suspended Animation (art without canvas!) Series.
In the parallel narrative entitled 'Flor', the Clown series, represents the way mankind feels when it lives without seeking change, lying on the outside while feeling empty on the inside, hiding under a never ending smile, while feeling broken...
The Suspended Animation series tie well into this whimsical, yet very delicate theme. The pieces from this series are all about experimentation and fun.
JuanCarlos is showcasing paintings without canvas, paint and rope directly attached to the art frame!
It's not to be missed!

EARTH - an Invitation to Your Home by JuanCarlos rLora.
Here's about this installation in the words of the artist.
"With this immersive installation I invite you to remember that the most important things in your life, like your loved ones, live in this one beautiful place we are all overlooking. Without it, neither we nor our families would exist. So please, let us be more conscious and pay more attention and stop the destruction we are causing...
- Did you know it’s been proven that humanity is able to have car engines that run on vegetable oil and some cars are even electric, so why do we not let go of fossil fuels?
- Did you know that nowadays we can harness the power of the Sun for energy? We call it solar power, but did you also know we can find ways to have the energy hitting the equatorial line on Earth to be distributed to all the other countries North and South? But we’re just not interested...
- Did you know it’s been proven that a human being can live a longer, healthier life without the consumption of animals? And knowing the incredible amount of suffering your taste buds cause, you still choose to not care. Animal products also cause pandemics...
- Did you know that we can now compress our own plastic garbage to create cinder blocks to build homes?
Now that you know this, there are lots of things you can do for your beautiful planet.
Earth is the chest where you keep your treasures, so treasure Earth as well."
With love,
JuanCarlos rLora
