JuanCarlos’ iconic Flor del Sol Series is centered around a concept of a Flower of Love, growing and existing on the Sun. Upon seeing so much destruction on Earth, when it was to reincarnate, the flower asked its Creator to allow it to be born on the surface of the Sun instead, to forever remain engulfed in flames, as a protest to the ways we’re devouring our home planet...all in hopes to incite us to change and become benevolent beings we were always meant to be.

"For me, art is a way of storytelling. I tell stories and sometimes those stories require different styles of art. That's why my work looks different from one series to the next, yet they're all connected by the common theme, that of love and preservation of our home, Earth."

"I approach my work like a musician or a storyteller. To me, every painting should tell or be part of a story, the way a song is. Every series has a theme, like an album would. And sometimes several themes interconnect to deliver a greater message, like a compilation or even a parallel narrative!
I love exploring, experiencing new trajectories, experimenting, changing everything again and then again, saying "what if?" using new and weird mediums and philosophizing through the canvas. I like working on different series back and forth, sometimes placing visual messages from one series to another, even though the two paintings may look like they have been created by different artists!
I love working until exhaustion, for it doesn't feel like work, I love thinking until delirium,
and I want to vigorously explore my imagination until the day I die."
